How does MYTHEO compare to other Digital Investment Services?
MYTHEO investment process requires the construction of portfolios in TWO-STAGES by utilizing different sets of algorithms at each stage. In the first stage, the algorithm is used to construct a CUSTOMIZED PORTFOLIO through the allocation of weightings from three functional portfolios: THE LONG-TERM GROWTH PORTFOLIO, INCOME PORTFOLIO and INFLATION HEDGE PORTFOLIO.
The construction of the CUSTOMIZED PORTFOLIO is based on risks profile and objective of each investor that are collected through the questionnaires. If the investor does not agree with the recommended portfolio, the investor has the flexibility to adjust the asset allocation based on their risks preference.
In the Second stage, Algorithm is used to construct each functional portfolio (LONG-TERM GROWTH PORTFOLIO, INCOME PORTFOLIO and INFLATION HEDGE PORTFOLIO) utilizing more than 25 ETFs. At this stage, the MYTHEO fund manager has full discretionary to decide the asset allocation using a different set of algorithms.
Below are details of functional portfolios of MYTHEO.
- LONG-TERM GROWTH PORTFOLIO
The goal is to achieve a high return over a long period. The portfolio includes only equity ETFs, in all countries, developed or emerging, for which there is an ETF that meets sufficient liquidity and size conditions. The basic algorithm is a volatility minimization, with an added tactical asset allocation based on value and momentum factors. The portfolio has an overall value and small-cap bias that gives it a total factor beta greater than 1. - INCOME PORTFOLIO
The goal is to achieve a high but stable and sustainable income stream from ETF dividends. Consequently, it invests in fixed income ETFs with higher yields and relatively predictable dividends. - INFLATION HEDGE PORTFOLIO
The goal is two-fold, first, to track Malaysian CPI over the medium time (several years), but also to diversify away from global equity market risk. The ETFs used are those who have been found to have a significant long-term correlation with inflation related commodities (oil, metals), US short-term Treasuries and TIPs, infrastructure and real asset ETFs.

Regular Savings
What is Regular Savings?
At MYTHEO, we always encourage investors to invest regularly because we believe that an investment needs time to grow. So, the longer your money is invested, the higher your chances of reaching your goals.
Investing the same amount on a regular basis is called “dollar cost average method” and is a popular investing technique.
By investing the same amount regularly, regardless of whether the market is high or low, you can reduce the risk of investing too much when the market is expensive. If you continue to invest fixed amounts at regular intervals, over time, your purchase prices will be averaged out. Also, by setting up an automatic bank payment on a fixed date each month, you can invest for the long term without being influenced by short-term market fluctuations.
By registering with MYTHEO’s Regular Savings Plan which is an automated standing instruction, you are committing a fixed amount of money to invest, on a regular basis (e.g. the 28th of every month). It removes the hassle for you to remember and perform the fund transfer yourself monthly.
What is the difference between Deposit, Regular Savings and Deposit Reminders that is available on MYTHEO?
Deposit is used if you intend to perform a single investment on MYTHEO.
Regular Savings is an automated standing instruction that you set on MYTHEO, which allows you to commit a fixed amount of money to invest, on a regular basis (e.g. the 28th of every month). When you have enrolled for regular savings, you are allowing your bank to deduct from your bank account for payments into MYTHEO which would then be invested, making your future regular investments hassle-free.
Deposit Reminder is an alert which you can set to remind you to expedite your deposit into your MYTHEO account. On the date when the reminder is due, you will receive an email and a push notification message that pops up on your mobile device.

- Select the Portfolio tab
- From the Action Menu, select Switching
- Proceed to fill in the required information
- Click ‘Confirm’
In the Portfolio Switching screen, system will display the current balance (in MYR) from the source portfolio which you have selected. It will also display the maximum amount that you can switch. This amount takes into consideration that you must maintain a minimum equivalent amount of USD25 in the source portfolio after switching.
Select the target portfolio and amount you wish to switch. If you intend to switch all your funds from the source portfolio, check the box provided under “Switch ALL funds” and once this process is completed, the source portfolio will be tagged as closed.
Can I switch from a single portfolio to multiple portfolio?
Currently you can only switch to a single portfolio.
Do I need to maintain a minimum balance in the source portfolio after switching?
Yes. A minimum amount of USD25 is required in order to maintain the account in the source portfolio. You are also required to have a minimum amount of USD25 in all portfolios.
Are there any administrative charges for Portfolio Switching?
The first 6 switches in a calendar year are free. Subsequent switches in the same calendar year will cost USD2.50 per switch.
What is the maximum number of Portfolio Switching that an investor can perform per calendar year?
There is no limit imposed on the number of Portfolio Switching an investor can perform per calendar year.
In which currency do I perform Portfolio Switching?
The amount that you can switch must be denominated in MYR.
How long will it take for the funds to switch over from source portfolio to the target portfolio?
It will take within one to two business days to complete the switching process. This is because when a switching request is made, it triggers the algorithm to sell some/all of your ETFs from the source portfolio and repurchase new ETFs for the target portfolio.
Since it takes one to two business days to complete the switching process, prior to its completion, can I abort it if I change my mind?
Once the switching confirmation button is selected, you will not be able to abort it.
Will the exact amount I entered be switched over to the new portfolio?
The actual amount switched may differ subject to the quantity of fractional units of ETF that can be sold and bought during trading.

How are all my sensitive data protected?
All your data and MYTHEO's IT infrastructure are stored in Tier 3 verified Data-Center and subjected to annual audit. This will better protect your information and reduces all forms of service disruption to a minimum.
In addition, two-factor authentication (2FA) is used: One Time Password (OTP) and CAPTCHA
2FA is a security process in which the user provides two different authentication factors to verify themselves to better protect their credentials. This will add an additional layer of security to the authentication by making it harder for unauthorised access to our customer's accounts, because knowing the password alone is not enough to pass the authentication check.
We also advocate a strong password policy which is an essential protection from financial fraud and identity theft. This password policy is required to register where password should be between 8 to 20 characters and contain at least:
- 1 lower case letter
- 1 upper case letter
Apart from the above security measures, we practice account lockout where users only have 3 login attempts to enter their password before their account is locked. This is to prevent any malicious attempt from guessing the username and password to gain access to your account.
The system also adopts a password expiry policy after 90days. New password must be created and as an added form of security, you will not be able to reuse your last 3 passwords.
There is also an option for bio-metrics login using thumbprint (both IOS and Android devices) and facial (IOS device) which does not require a password to login.
I was automatically logged out, what happened?
For security reasons, the application will automatically log you out if it has been idle for a period of time.
Can I sign in from multiple sites at the same time?
You are allowed to sign on to multiple devices (web and app) but only one sign on is allowed at any one time.
I am required to fill up my personal information upon sign up. Is it safe?
Yes, we are governed by the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA)
